STOP! If you have not read Southern Heart, the 5th book in Ms Madison’s Southern Series then I would not dive into Southern Heat just yet. This installment of the series picks up at the end of book 5 and the stories are very heavily connected even though the principal characters are different.
As expected from Ms Madison, Quinn is a swoony, Alpha male hero with a sweet side. Willow is probably one of the more outwardly fragile heroines, but she is stronger than she thinks. The interactions covered a wide range of emotions and I appreciated the care Ms Madison took with easing Willow into friendships and then more.
There is a large overall secondary cast, but the active group is relatively small. Β It was nice to see Mayson and Chelsea (Southern Heart) and glimpses of how they are doing. We also were able to see a little more about family and friends that will be appearing in future Southern books.
Much like other books in the Southern Series, this is a fairly quick read. Potentially heafty issues are touched on, but there isn’t a deep dive into dealing with them. These are character and relationship driven stories that definitely have an overall feel-good message.
