War is only the beginning…
From the desperation of golden crowns…
Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.
And born of mortal flesh…
Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her wayβ€”because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.
A great primal power rises…
Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dearβ€”to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to beβ€”what she fears the most.
As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

Oh…my…GOD! What a wild ride this book was. Poppy, Casteel, Kieran, and the gang had their hands full in this one. Here are my thoughts.

  • Isbeth gets the bitch of the millennium award. Talk about a mommy dearest.
  • Malik has some explaining to do…seriously, I don’t feel like what came out was really enough to help anyone understand just what the feck he was doing.
  • Reaver. I need a book just of Reaver. He’s cranky and fit right in with the other men in Poppy’s life. You could see the bits of Nektas in him, but he was his own snarky draken that I needed more of.
  • Millie is interesting and I’m not sure how that whole thing is going to play out.
  • Cullen is a piece of shit and I can’t wait for this dude to get what is coming to him. Honestly, I don’t think anyone could get stabby enough with this asshole.
  • The joining. I’ve seen some of the not-so-nice stuff that was said about this. Honestly, if you’ve been reading this series how can this come as a surprise? And even if it did, at what point does this mean people can start being hateful to the author? It doesn’t but seems decency gets thrown out the window when they’re pushed outside their own comfort zone.
  • Casteel’s parents is something I hope the next book delves into. Casteel brushed off that conversation with his dad, but there has got to be some hefty drama that comes from what his mother did and how that impacted her sons and Poppy. Will that make a difference with where the storyline is now heading? Probably not, but as a family, I think it has to happen or else Casteel and Malik aren’t going to be able to move forward.

I’m not sure how long we’re going to have to wait for the next book in the series, but it can’t come soon enough.
