New York Times bestselling author Corinne Michaels brings the second book in the Rose Canyon series with this small-town, second chance romance.
I am in the most inconvenient marriage of convenience ever. What started out as two friends who wanted to make their military lives easier, turned into a mess. Why? Because I stupidly fell in love with my husband.
In an attempt to remedy my mistake, I severed all ties and put my life as a combat medic and Emmett Maxwell behind me. Iβve lost too many people to open myself up to love.
Now Iβm working as a private investigator, and fate has stepped in, forcing our paths to intersect again when Iβm looking into the disappearance of a missing girl with ties to Emmettβs hometown. A case I fear puts his life in danger.
He gives me one week to prove my suspicions and then I need to sign the divorce papers and leave. The problem with that? The moment I see Emmett again, I realize how foolish it was to leave him, to think I could ever stop loving him.
When the case threatens not only my life but also his, Iβm faced with my worst fear. How many times can a heart break before it shatters beyond repair?

This was classified as a fake marriage romance, but I have to say I totally didn’t see Blakely and Emmett that way.Β They may have gotten married for all the wrong reasons, but they really did love each other and somehow couldn’t find a way to get those 3 little magic words to come out of their mouths.Β But, if they had said those, we wouldn’t have gottenΒ Give Me Love.
This book picks up whereΒ Help Me RememberΒ left off with Blakely coming into town and everyone realizing Emmett was married.Β Blakely came to town trying to solve a missing person case that was tied to bad guy Bill who had gone after Brielle.Β Unbeknownst to Rose Canyon, they have a big issue on their hands.Β Emmett and Blakely try to navigate the pitfalls of their fake/not really fake relationship while dealing with the continued fallout from what went down with Isaac and Brie.
I like Emmett and Blakely.Β Their banter was fantastic and it was very obvious that these two needed to deal with their very large feelings for one another rather than continue to shove them in the proverbial closet.Β Once they admitted what they had been scared to say, everything fell very quickly into place for them, as a couple at least.Β But Ms. Michaels couldn’t let them off the hook that easily so the bad guys came knocking which also revealed the struggle these two ex-military people were going to have.Β Emmett needed to remember that Blakely was a badass and didn’t need to be saved, she just needed to be trusted like any other member of a well-oiled machine.
The story was enjoyable, even if I was able to figure out where the arc of the story was going pretty quickly (and didn’t tug on the heartstring quite the way I thought it might).Β The epilogue has me waiting with bated breath for what exactly happened in Vegas at Issac’s bachelor party.
