From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her Flesh and Fire seriesβ¦
The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.
After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.
Convincing Kolis wonβt be easy, though β not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolisβs erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing couldβve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.
But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. Heβll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and thatβs exactly what will happen if he doesnβt Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.
But there is that foreseen unexpected threadβthe unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fatesβ¦
I loved the story and I can see why JLA had to make 2 books for the ending. BUTβ¦I was not expecting to spend so much of this book with Sera and Ash apart. There’s a very good reason why…Ash was kinda in a timeout. But I needed something from the other side. Could we get an Ash POV while he was grounded (I already know what scene I wish we had that POV for)? Or maybe Nektasβ POV or anyone else from the Shadowlands and what was happening there? I just felt like we spent too much time with creepy Callum (who knew that twist was coming?) and the very effed-up Kolis.
Moving on… I decided to annotate during the ARC read so I could keep track of what was going on. Letβs say, I used a lot of story-building stickies. JLA dropped all kinds of hints that not only impacted the Flesh and Fire series but also Blood and Ash. I found myself going back to re-read something a couple of pages before because it suddenly dawned on me what was said. I will be doing a re-read of the entire series once the ebook hits my Kindle because I need to be able to piece all of this together.
As always, JLA delivers. If it werenβt for the lack of Ash and Sera time, this would have been a 10. Some of my favorite parts:
– Sera is a badass with glass objects
– Anytime Sera and Callum got into it π
– Sera when she gets a tad stabby (clearly this is a family trait)
– The moment Nektas decided to check in π€£
– Nektas flirting π€
– Pg. 525….finally!
Now I will patiently wait for Miss Willa’s book to see what interesting tidbits she provides before we get the last book in the Flesh and Fires series in May.

Great review. I’ve only read the first one in this series so far, and I loved it. Time to get back into it.
